Low Carb

Low carb means “low in carbohydrates“. In a low carb diet, almost all sugars, both slow and fast acting, are eliminated. Sugar intake may vary between 20 and 100g per day.

Low carb diets are often recommended for fast weight loss. People living with Type 1 diabetes may also prefer low carb diets because it allows to reduce insulin doses due to the very small amounts of carbohydrates consumed.

The Atkins and ketogenic diets are the two most common types of low carb diets.
